The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls' Golf Tour (PKBGT) through its RecruitPKB initiative has established a program to provide scholarships for PKBGT members who wish to attend college. The Triad Youth Golf Foundation, an independent, non-profit organization, is the administrator of the program. The PKBGT reserves the right to amend or discontinue this program at any time.
Scholarship recipients must attend any accredited public or private, four-year college or university located in the United States. Recipients must plan to enter college in the subsequent fall of the year the award is made with the goal of earning a recognized undergraduate academic degree in the time normally prescribed for the attainment of said degree. The recipient's school of choice must be exempt from federal income tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Funds will not be issued for this scholarship unless the school maintains that exemption. Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate work only. Any changes in plans for college after notification of receipt of the scholarship must be given in writing to the scholarship director.
Awards become effective with the subsequent fall school term of the year the award is made, unless the student's program begins sooner. Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each. Funds are applied to educational expenses, including tuition, fees, and books. Checks will be made payable to and mailed directly to the colleges upon receipt of the Request for Payment Form. Scholarships are a one-time award, not to be renewed each year.
SELECTION OF WINNERS
Scholarship applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, financial need and potential to succeed in the student's chosen educational field. The PKBGT retains a Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of business and golf industry leaders. Award winners must have a strong showing of academic merit and personal accomplishment. Decisions of the RecruitPKB Scholarship Selection Committee are final. Justification for recipient selection(s) will not be released by the RecruitPKB Scholarship Selection Committee or any PKBGT employees.
The following factors are considered in the selection:
